Last night I sat down at a 4-8 limit game at the Sun Coast, and had just started playing, when a dapper looking black gentlemen sat in the seat next to me. He sure looked like a younger version of Antonio Fargas, but since I had watched him when I was a kid on "Starsky and Hutch" and this guy didn't look a whole lot older than me, I figured it couldn't be him. It wasn't a good read. After a few bad beats he began to mutter under his breath things like, "that's not how it's done, Fargas" - it was clear I was sitting next to the real deal. Two things about Huggy Bear. 1. He was a real gentleman. Quiet, thoughtful, and reasonable - in no way a dick. 2. In the 3 hours we played together he saw every flop. (with the usual outcome - him leaving broke). The room at the sun coast is pretty uninteresting. There were 3 tables going, two 4-8s and a robust 2-4 (is there a bigger waste of time than 2-4? The phrase "What's the point?" could have been coined for that game.) The Sun coast is a locals casino in a good area of town, and the players reflect that. There wasn't a jerk at the table - no one berating the dealer, no one raising on every hand, no one who seemed to consider themselves a poker genius. It was a good clean game. No whining or complaining when someone sucked out - players understood that's the nature of a limit game. The Sun coast isn't spectacular, but it's a good place for the non-superstar home game player who is just looking for a reasonable fun place to play.
