On a recent Saturday afternoon there were 35 tables in action at the biggest room in Arizona. They didn't get the Stud tables going but Omaha8 had three tables and the rest were evenly divided between limit and no-limit hold'em. The brush does a very efficient job of keeping the empty seats full and the food and beverage service is first class. The play can go from really juicy to full of rocks, so table selection and table changes are important. Tournaments run M-F and there are lots of ever changing promotions from Bad Beat Jackpots to a graveyard Aces Cracked. Ask before you start play because the current promotions definitely affect the pre-flop play.
Casino Arizona is split in to 2 locations about 5 miles apart with the 101- Indian Bend Loaction housing the Poker Room. The casino looks like 2 giant tents from the 101 and it very spacious inside with over 40 tables. All the Games running were Fixed Limit while I was there ranging from 3-6 to 100-200. Many of the games were played with a Kill. Food could be delivered to your seat so you would not have to leave the action. The only complaint could be that there is no NL games offered. Mike
I have only played at Casino Arizona (or Talking Stick as it is called), a hand-full of times. However, I have played in enough rooms to know a good one when I see it. The dealers and staff are extremely professional. The food service is excellent. And there is ALWAYS action, no matter what level you want to play. One down side is that No Limit poker is not legal in Arizona. To make up for this, Casino Arizona has developed a large Spread Limit game (I believe it is $5-$150 or something similar), with a buy-in limit. For most intents and purposes it is as good as No Limit. But if you are a real serious No Limit player, it might be a downer for you. Over all, this is a five-star room. It is just as good as any of the large Las Vegas rooms, and better than most others. It is easily the best I have seen in Arizona.
